Press Release (November 2, 2008)

PRESS RELEASE :

“BP and ODDS look to emerge as a new favorite of Hip Hop tastemakers… Bringing back the boom bap.”

November 2, 2008

Tastemaker DJs and neighborhood trendsetters alike remember the buzz caused by the Jupitersciples’ “CTO” single released in 2003. Eager to hear a change in Hip Hop music at the time, Los Angeles responded lively to a new underground favorite. The group went on to release a maxi-single on vinyl, entitled “Venomous Age” in 2004; the single getting considerable plays in southern California and throughout burgeoning Hip Hop spots worldwide. The next step for Jupitersciples was a full-length album to be released independently. The highly anticipated album was initiated, but never completed; leaving Jupitersciples fans scratching their heads and wanting more!

Oddsequence, a loud and still-active voice of Jupitersciples formed a new group with producer Buttonpusha. The independent release of BP and ODDS’ Hi’s & Lo’s EP (release date: November 25, 2008) arrives with perfect timing; as Hip Hop awaits that classic sound with a new twist: the emergence of the next favorite of Los Angeles and the Hip Hop world ready for a new consciousness in sound.

The Hi’s and Lo’s EP consists of 9 tracks with a wide range of topics and moods; all classic Hip Hop beats with thought-provoking lyrics. Three definitive instrumental tracks serve as interludes and intermissions to the songs which topics range from traveling, to asking yourself questions for your own answers, to uplifting people out of adversity, to imagining a far-fetched world of video game references over a Nintendo-sampled beat, and much more. BP and ODDS create a sophisticated, non-conventional sound for an adventurous listen.

Oddsequence (the MC) is a modern-day poet armed with conscious commentary and a wise choice of vocabulary from an alternative point of view. Confident and witty with an athletic delivery.

The producer is an embodiment of all tenets of today’s greatest beatmakers. A master MPC 2000XL technician, BP learned the low-end doctrine and follows the code of conduct in creating.

Together, BP and ODDS offer an alternative to the saturated market and bring good back to the music.
